Slope
A two-point before-and-after comparison per item.
How to read it
Two moments, one line per item. Direction is the story and steepness is the size of the change.
Best for
Change between exactly two moments, where who rose and who fell is the story.
When not to use it
The two endpoints are unrepresentative — a slope chart hides everything that happened between them.
The common mistake
Picking a start point that flatters the conclusion. With only two data points, the choice of dates is the argument.
