Every figure on this site traces to a publisher. Here they are, closest to the data first. Pick one to see every clip that relies on it.

Primary source
The publisher of the figure itself: a statistics office, an agency, a filing or a league's record book.
Research or own measurement
A research organisation, a journal, or a company publishing its own measurement. Reliable as the origin, but the figure is often an estimate.
News report
A news outlet reporting a figure. Used as a second, independent confirmation, never as the only source.
