Timeline
Milestones landing along a rail, spaced by elapsed time.
How to read it
Events run along the rail in order, and the distance between them is elapsed time; a ≈ break marks a gap too long to draw to scale. Chips on the rail say what changed between neighbours.
Best for
A sequence of events where the spacing between them matters.
When not to use it
The gaps are wildly uneven, which either squashes the dense stretch or strands the sparse one.
The common mistake
Spacing events evenly for tidiness, which quietly turns a timeline into a numbered list.
